About this role

RRC Companies is seeking a talented Field Geologist I to help build the future of U.S. energy production from the Round Rock, Texas office. RRC is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm specializing in energy projects, particularly renewable energy, throughout the United States. Our team has provided services to an estimated 25,000 MW of alternative energy projects.

Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs including geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging. Conduct geophysical surveys such as seismic surveys and earth electrical resistivity surveys under specific work instructions. Observe and document geotechnical construction activities during construction phases.

Requirements

  • BS or Associate degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or Geophysics preferred; High school diploma required
  • Willing to travel and work in various site conditions and project locations throughout the United States
  • Proficiency with MS Office computer programs
  • Previous experience in Geotechnical drilling/sampling and construction material testing in soil and concrete preferred
  • Previous experience in outdoor/field working/driving conditions preferred
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record required
  • Good oral and written communication skills and ability to lead or be part of a project team
  • Willing to relocate to RRC's Round Rock, TX office

Responsibilities

  • Perform fieldwork for geotechnical subsurface investigation programs and geophysical surveys under specific work instructions
  • Conduct geotechnical drilling and sampling, visual field reconnaissance, and soil and rock logging
  • Perform seismic surveys, earth electrical resistivity surveys, and other geophysical surveys as directed
  • Observe and document geotechnical construction activities
  • Perform construction material testing/inspection during construction phases
  • Perform other engineering activities as required
