About this role
This is an on-call, remote position with opportunity to transition full-time. The Cultural GIS Specialist I will support a variety of cartographic needs for projects including utility, transportation, telecommunications, and energy infrastructure projects. They will generate and incorporate geospatial information into cartographic components prepared for cultural environmental review reports.
Use geospatial software to create templated static reference maps for local, state, and federal environmental reports. Process, interpret, and maintain geospatial vector data from various file formats. Apply geoprocessing and data query techniques to execute deliverables and update ArcGIS online maps.
Reports to GIS Supervisor at Eocene Environmental Group, part of the Wright Service Corp. family. The team provides environmental, utility vegetation management, software, and sustainability services across Forestry & Utility, Environmental, Technology & Innovation, and Sustainability Divisions. Produce consistent high-volume products to meet fast-paced deadlines while complying with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain knowledge of company GIS protocols and data structures. Position may require some outside travel with potential for growth into full-time role.
Requirements
- BA/BS Degree or Technical Certificate in GIS and 2+ years of GIS work experience
- Experience with Esri Enterprise and software suites
- Understanding of standard cartographic and database management principles
- Knowledge in an array of geoprocessing tools and techniques
- Capable of effectively managing files for complex projects with and without enterprise-level tools
- Ability to perform work duties remotely and efficiently
- Capable of independently troubleshooting problems and researching solutions with moderate supervision
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, both technical and non-technical
Responsibilities

- Maintains knowledge of, and adheres to, company established GIS protocols and data structures
