We’re looking for a motivated Geophysicist to join our Austin team to perform geophysical fieldwork, assist with project reporting, and help maintain high-quality standards within our Geophysical Group. The title and compensation associated with the position will be dependent upon the candidate’s level of experience.

Geophysical field work includes irregular hours and weekends, with up to 80% of time in the field. Provide quality assurance of geophysical data collected in the field and perform technical analyses while drafting portions of reports and drawings.

Requirements

  • BS in Geophysics, Geological Sciences, or Civil Engineering
  • Ability to perform field work in adverse conditions including carrying up to 50 pounds of equipment and swinging a sledgehammer
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Valid US Driver’s License and a reliable means of transportation
  • Experience with geophysical field work ideally including electrical resistivity and seismic methods
  • Working knowledge of geophysical data processing software such as EarthImager, SurfSEIS/ParkSEIS, or SeisImager
  • Experience using GPS (Trimble) equipment and software and QGIS
  • Attained GIT/EIT designation or PG/PE license or working toward licensure

Responsibilities

  • Perform geophysical fieldwork including irregular hours and weekends with up to 80% of time in the field
  • Provide quality assurance of geophysical data collected in the field
  • Perform technical analyses and draft portions of geophysical and engineering reports and drawings
  • Learn to perform geotechnical field tasks and assist geotechnical projects when available
  • Work a minimum of 40 hours per week with longer hours required when working in the field
  • Travel for up to 10 days at a time for projects across the lower 48 States
