About this role
The Principal Geologist, QA/QC governs, monitors, and continuously improves geological and analytical data quality across all BMNM operations. This role acts as the corporate technical authority for QA/QC, ensuring drilling, sampling, assay, and database workflows meet defined standards for Mineral Resource evaluation, reconciliation, and reporting. It centralizes QA/QC accountability within MRM for stronger technical assurance and audit readiness.
Oversee routine QA/QC monitoring for exploration, grade control, and metallurgical datasets, reviewing laboratory performance with standards, blanks, duplicates, and umpire results. Identify data quality issues early and drive corrective actions with site teams. Lead internal audits of geological databases, sampling workflows, and laboratory performance.
Work closely with the Database Management team to embed QA/QC rules in systems like Acquire, defining validation rules and data integrity controls. Provide QA/QC assurance to Resource Evaluation, Mine Geology, Geometallurgy, and Reconciliation teams. Support external audits and investigate reconciliation issues linked to sampling or data quality.
Train geologists, technicians, and database staff in QA/QC best practices, developing guidelines, templates, and reporting tools. Build long-term internal capability to reduce reliance on consultant-led audits. Advise on data risk during studies, updates, and reporting cycles.
