About this role

The Georgia Dept. of Transportation (GDOT) seeks a technical GIS developer for configuring and developing custom Esri ArcGIS Enterprise 10x, 11x applications using Javascript API, Experience Builder, ArcGIS Portal/Online/Hub, and Field Maps. Applications deploy within SharePoint web sites and integrate with .NET based applications, GDOT databases including Oracle/Oracle Exadata and SQL Server, data warehouse, and enterprise reporting tools like OBIEE, Data Visualizer, or Power BI. The candidate must have application programming/development, implementation, and support experience.

Under broad supervision, the candidate will design, code, test, modify, and debug computer software and applications utilizing Esri ArcGIS. They will research and analyze program or systems problems, provide resolutions, and complete system documentation. Business requirements and user stories translate into secure, commented, and maintainable code.

The candidate joins the Enterprise GIS Team in the Office of IT Applications, working with database, network, server IT team members, management, architects, developers, and business units. The team includes 2 ArcGIS developers, 2 System Administrators, a data manager, and team leader, supporting over 180 ArcGIS Desktop users and 60,000 annual ArcGIS Server web visits. Applications cover GIS portal, feature mapping, project planning, emergency operations, permitting, safety, and traffic records.

The team develops enterprise GIS services, applications, and databases, coordinating with client, server, network, and database personnel. Follow internal SLDC, standards/guidelines, and best practices for solutions. This position is subject to annual budget restrictions with initial contract through fiscal year end, anticipated renewal July 1, 2025.

Requirements

  • Experience configuring and developing custom Esri ArcGIS Enterprise 10x, 11x applications
  • Proficiency in Javascript API, Experience Builder, ArcGIS Portal/Online/Hub, Field Maps
  • Integration of GIS solutions with .NET applications, Oracle/Oracle Exadata, SQL Server databases
  • Experience with data warehouse (Oracle Exadata) and enterprise reporting (OBIEE, Power BI)
  • Application programming/development, implementation, and support experience utilizing Esri ArcGIS
  • Ability to design, code, test, modify, and debug computer software and applications
  • Skills in researching and analyzing program or systems problems to provide resolutions

Responsibilities

  • Develop customized web applications, webservices, mobile, and enterprise solutions
  • Develop geoprocessing and GIS web services
  • Develop GIS web editing/mapping applications
  • Conduct performance, unit, system, integration, and quality assurance testing of applications
  • Maintain existing applications/services
  • Upgrade and migrate existing applications/services to current version/systems architecture
  • Provide end user support and create support documentation
  • Estimate work effort and propose/design development solutions

Benefits

  • 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday on fixed schedule starting 7:00AM-9:00AM Eastern Time
