Focus on Government of India’s flagship schemes like Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and KCC/MISS to strengthen farmer resilience. Provide financial risk protection against natural calamities, pests, climate uncertainties, and environmental shocks. Enable comprehensive risk coverage for the entire crop cycle with direct claim transfer.

Promote South-South cooperation, gender equality, and social inclusion across strategic portfolios. Collaborate with national and subnational government, and diverse development actors. Contribute to the integrator for collective action on the Sustainable Development Goals within the UN system.

Requirements

  • Expertise in remote sensing techniques for environmental monitoring
  • Knowledge of geospatial analysis for agriculture and disaster risk
  • Experience with satellite data processing for crop health assessment
  • Familiarity with GIS applications in climate resilience projects
  • Understanding of earth science data for policy and institutional support
  • Ability to interpret multispectral imagery for natural calamity detection

Responsibilities

  • Analyze satellite imagery to assess crop damage from natural calamities and environmental shocks
  • Develop geospatial models for risk assessment in Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
  • Monitor climate uncertainties and pests using remote sensing data for farmer resilience
  • Map agricultural areas to support comprehensive risk coverage for crop cycles
  • Generate evidence for direct claim transfers through e-remittance analysis
  • Support institutional reforms with earth observation data for sustainable agriculture
  • Evaluate land use changes impacting vulnerable farming communities
