About this role

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career GIS Specialist. You will work with our team of consulting scientists and engineers addressing clients’ data management needs. Initial training covers standard operating protocols of database architecture, GIS work product preparation, and laboratory analytical data management and validation.

Use training to support operations through geospatial and data management toolchains. Compile, visualize, and analyze data from streaming and static sources. Build interactive dashboards and reports, and assist with design, development, and implementation of new products and services for clients.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with desktop GIS software (ArcGIS)
  • Programming skills with languages such as Python, R, SQL, .NET, Java/JavaScript, and VBA
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with off-the-shelf environmental data management systems (EQuIS, ESdat)
  • Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes
  • Experience with front-end processes of collecting field data with various GPS units and downloading and compiling the data
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Interact with multidisciplinary internal teams and external clients to provide integrated GIS, data management, analysis, and visualization solutions for environmental engineering and geoscience projects
  • Use desktop and enterprise GIS software, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and open-source alternatives, to collect, store, analyze, and visualize spatial data
  • Use mobile data collection platforms, such as EQuIS collect, Survey123, Collector for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Field Maps, and GPS equipment for data collection
  • Design, develop, and manage project-specific relational database applications using desktop and enterprise database software
  • Compile, verify, analyze, visualize, and report large and diverse datasets
  • Automate processes with Python and other scripting languages and platforms including VBA and Microsoft PowerAutomate
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
