About this role

WSP is seeking a Lead Geologist with 7+ years of consulting experience to join the Pacific Northwest Site Investigation & Remediation Team. This role offers flexible working arrangements and is based in offices in Tigard, Oregon or Redmond, Washington.

The Lead Geologist will solve problems and document solutions through strong technical writing and verbal communication, supporting technical reports, plans, and calculations. They will work on multi-disciplinary projects emphasizing soil, groundwater, sediment, and stormwater investigations, chemical fate and transport assessment, and hazardous waste management.

WSP’s Pacific Northwest team serves diverse clients including industrial companies, agencies, and the federal government. In-house experts in chemistry, risk assessment, data management, GIS, engineering, and industrial hygiene support projects locally and nationwide, with access to global subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related discipline.
  • 7 or more years of post-education environmental consulting experience.
  • Professional Geologist or Hydrogeologist registration in Oregon or Washington (preferably both).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing ability and experience preparing technical reports, plans, and calculations.
  • Knowledge of federal, Oregon, and Washington environmental regulations.
  • Self-motivated with ability to manage complex projects with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical reports, plans, and calculations for multi-disciplinary environmental projects.
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, sediment, and stormwater investigations and remediation system activities.
  • Provide guidance on green and sustainable remediation techniques to minimize carbon footprint.
  • Support litigation projects through cleanup cost evaluation and preparation of materials for mediation and expert testimony.
  • Lead or serve on teams providing environmental consulting services to commercial and government clients.
  • Manage technically complex projects with minimal direct oversight, ensuring financial metrics and safety.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships to grow WSP’s portfolio.
