About this role

As a GIS Consultant/Analyst at AECOM, you will apply your knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, spatial data, and database management to support a diverse range of projects. Using the Esri technology stack alongside ETL tools such as FME, you will assist in sourcing, managing, and creating geospatial data and products.

In this role, you will support project teams in visualising, analysing, and interpreting spatial information to inform decision-making and reporting. Your day-to-day activities will include performing spatial analysis, creating high-quality cartographic outputs, and configuring field data collection tools like ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123.

You will work closely with GIS Leads, Project Managers, and technical specialists, building strong working relationships and developing your consultancy skills. This position is part of a centre of excellence, where you will contribute to the continuous improvement of geospatial workflows and processes.

This role offers the opportunity to develop your technical skills while delivering projects that create a positive and tangible impact. Strong preference is given to candidates with experience supporting UK-based environmental programs, such as linear infrastructure, offshore/onshore wind, solar, and master planning.

Requirements

  • Degree in GIS, Geography, or a related technical field.
  • Typically 3+ years of professional GIS experience.
  • Proficiency with the Esri technology stack (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123).
  • Experience with ETL tools such as FME for spatial data processing and integration.
  • Knowledge of geodatabase design, spatial analysis, and cartographic production.
  • Familiarity with CAD and BIM workflows and data exchange between GIS and other disciplines.
  • Ability to manage field data collection and perform QA/QC procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform spatial analysis and data processing to support environmental permitting, infrastructure planning, and master planning.
  • Create high-quality cartographic outputs and interactive web maps that meet project-specific communication standards.
  • Contribute to the design and population of geodatabases, ensuring data adheres to project schemas and quality standards.
  • Support the integration of GIS with CAD and BIM workflows to ensure seamless data exchange between disciplines.
  • Configure and manage field data collection tools, including ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123, for efficient digital data capture.
  • Support the post-processing and QA/QC of field-captured data before integration into master datasets.
  • Maintain project metadata and technical documentation to ensure long-term data usability and compliance.
  • Assist in basic programming or scripting for task automation under the guidance of senior staff.
