About this role
Amentum provides client-oriented solutions across environment, energy, and defence businesses. We seek an experienced Structural Geologist with 6+ years industry experience to join our Earth and Environmental Services Operations Area. Apply advanced structural interpretation, modelling and geomechanics skills to support projects.
The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team specialising in low strength sedimentary rock, high strength rock and Quaternary geology. Projects cover siting, site characterisation, site descriptive models and subsurface conditions for new build nuclear power, defence facilities and radioactive waste disposal. Clean energy solutions, decommissioning and regeneration of legacy sites are also key focuses.
Collaborate with hydrogeology, land quality, geotechnical engineering, engineering geology and geophysics disciplines. Maintain strong links with academic researchers around the UK. Work with the wider Amentum community to strengthen team capabilities.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff as a senior role. Deliver project technical leadership within the Subsurface Solutions team. Gain experience in complex bid preparation, project management and technical planning.
Requirements
- 6+ years industry experience as Structural Geologist
- Advanced structural interpretation skills
- Expertise in geological modelling
- Strong geomechanics knowledge
- Experience with low strength sedimentary rock
- Familiarity with high strength rock and Quaternary geology
- Ability to work on multidisciplinary geoscience projects
